The mobile upright milling machine was designed by ZEUS in 1988; it used ground-breaking technology for that time and managed to carve out a niche market. 25 years later this technology has become, also thanks to the competition created in the sector, vitally important for aeronautical companies and mould manufacturers, and for the machining of small and medium sized parts. ZEUS hasn’t had to intervene significantly in the design technology over the years as already back in 1988 the machine incorporated roller bearings which had real milling capacity: pretensioned double leadnut recirculating ball screws and oleodynamic type balancing of the head unit. The version with linear motors and torque was placed on the market in 2011, ahead of the times for machines of this size. ZEUS, family business now in its 3rd generation, has offered the market its capacity to build the most versatile machine possible to meet its clients’ needs since 1962.
The electrowelded structure in high quality sheet steel is treated after welding with stress relieving tempering in special furnaces, shotblasting and undercoat with special fixative. Two large foldable protective rolling shutter boxes, positioned vertically and connected laterally to the tunnel of the upright, run along the X axis, offering a protective barrier for the components at the rear of the machine. In configurations with commuting working area, on request the fairing can be divided into two zones using a partitioning panel so that the operator is only able to access the zone where the machining is not automatic.
